Further to News Release from the VAT Unit on August 14, 2009, it has been brought to the attention of the VAT Unit, Inland Revenue Division of the Ministry of Finance that Mr. David L. Evans and Ms. Nester Alexander are purporting to be representatives of the Government of Grenada while engaging businesses to acquire their services and purchase software and hardware to support VAT operations.

Businesses should note that Mr. Evans and Ms. Alexander are not employed by the Government of Grenada nor are they authorized representatives of the VAT Unit. Furthermore, they have not been authorized to speak on behalf of the VAT Unit.

The current Advisory visit by the VAT Unit is a free service and is geared towards assisting the businesses in preparation for the implementation of VAT on February 1, 2010.

Businesses should ensure that the information, calculation and mechanics are consistent with the VAT Legislation passed in Parliament.

The Division is reminding Businesses to pay particular attention to the letters issued by the VAT Unit of the Ministry of Finance, which indicates the time of the visit and the names of the Contact persons from the Unit, one of whom would form part of the visiting team.
