August 29th, 2010 is the final day for property owners to pay their Property Tax for the 2010 – 2011 fiscal year, before a 10% penalty, and interest of 2% is applied for late payment.
The Inland Revenue Division reminded property owners that they had until June 30th to make payments and take advantage of the 5% rebate that was offered according to the Property Tax Act, from which they are given 60 days thereafter to make payments, without any interest and penalty for the current year. Failure to do such would result in a 10% penalty and 2% interest charge.
All other persons are therefore urged to take advantage of the remaining period to settle their accounts and avoid any penalties, as no further extension will be granted.
Payments may be made at the Inland Revenue Division main office, the VAT Unit, or any district revenue office.
The Division is continuing to embark on their taxpayer awareness programs, as a means of increasing the level of voluntary compliance. Property owners are therefore urged to settle their outstanding amounts to avoid any action being taken against them by the Division.
